*    PSA is Pressure Sensitive Adhesive. This adhesive is applied to the back of the pad so that, when the liner paper is removed, it will be able to adhere to the polishing platen.

**   Embossing is where a square grid pattern is pressed into the pad. This is done to facilitate the flow of slurry. The following are the embossed specs: Pitch, 0.100 inch; Depth, 0.011 inch-0.024 inch; Width, 0.025 inch (therefore a 0.075 inch x 0.075 inch island or contact pad is created).

***    Perforated is where holes are punched through the pad material in approximately 22 holes per square inch. This is done to facilitate slurry flow.
